In nature, ferns are plants that grow on rocks, often found in moist areas near ponds or rivers.
With their beautiful leaf shapes, in Aquascaping, they are tied to rocks placed at the base of larger stones to resemble small bushes. Planting and caring for these plants is not difficult; however, if not done correctly, the leaves may turn gray and develop black spots.
When planting ferns, we should tie them to hard substrates like driftwood or rocks. Ferns do not require much light or CO2; on the contrary, if exposed to too much light or excessive CO2, the plants will turn gray and lose leaves. You should place ferns in slightly shaded areas so they can grow and develop well. Ferns produce new leaves from the roots or leaf sections; if you encounter any leaves that are too old or have turned gray or discolored, you should cut them off so that new leaves will grow quickly.
