A timer is a convenient device for adjusting the external conditions of an aquascape or aquarium, as it can help us automatically turn on and off devices such as CO2, lights, or air pumps. Below, we would like to introduce how to use a mechanical timer.

The structure of the timer is divided into the following parts:
. Hour dial: The white and black part, according to our actual time, is divided into 2 colors to distinguish between daytime and nighttime..
. The timer dial is the green part divided into several equal notches, each notch representing a time of 15 minutes.
. The socket part for the devices that need to be turned on and off is a flat socket located in the center of the timer.
. Additionally, there is a switch on the side to turn off the timer mode and switch to normal power mode. Slide to the ON side to turn off the timer mode and slide back to the clock side to return to timer mode.

How to use:
First, you turn the hour part of the timer to match the actual time. The white arrow will indicate the current time. For example, in the picture, it is 7:30 PM.

Next is setting the on/off timer. If you press down on the green notch, it means it is on; if it remains unchanged, it is off. For example, in the picture, the pressed part from 5 PM to 10 PM means the power is on from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and the remaining time in the day will be off.
If you want to turn on the light (or something else) while the timer’s arrow is not pointing to the selected hours, you can turn the green button to the ON position.

The advantages of a mechanical timer compared to an electronic timer: Mechanical timers have a longer lifespan, are easy to use, and are less prone to damage.
Disadvantages: When there is a power outage, the timer stops working, so you need to monitor it to reset the timer. About once a month, the timer may also run out of sync, so you need to pay attention to adjust it again.
