Nerite snails (Neritina / Vittina species) are the best glass algae grazers that won't reproduce in freshwater — but they deposit white egg spots on hardscape. Not mystery snails (large, breedable) or assassin snails (hunters).

Fix: Remove assassins or feed protein if nerites are being hunted.
Shell erosion
Why: Very soft acidic water.
Fix: Buffer KH; calcium from diet/water.
