As a very beautiful aquatic plant, not everyone knows how to care for this type of moss in their aquarium. Now we would like to guide you on how to help moss grow and thrive!

Usually tied or glued to driftwood or stones. Moss grows and develops based on the nutrients available in the water. Currently, there are many types of moss with various shapes, the most common being Java moss or Taiwan moss. Planting moss is not difficult, but if you don’t know how, it’s easy to cause moss problems.

First, to help moss grow, we should tie or glue it onto a hard substrate so that the moss does not float to the surface. When attaching moss to the substrate, we should use scissors or a knife to cut it into small pieces about 1-2cm and spread them evenly over the surface of the substrate. Note that the moss does not need to be tied too tightly; it should be loose enough for the moss to receive light and sprout, as from the cut positions, the moss will quickly branch out under favorable conditions.
How to care for moss! In the early stages, to encourage moss growth and development, we should supplement with liquid fertilizers high in potassium to help the plants sprout quickly. Note that when using liquid fertilizers, harmful moss can also proliferate, so please use according to the recommended dosage. If your tank is already in stable condition or has too many plants, you may not need to use moss growth stimulants. Another important factor for moss is temperature; it is very sensitive to temperature. At temperatures from 23-26°C, the moss produces new leaves quite quickly and has a lush green color, but when it reaches around 28°C to above 30°C, the moss starts to turn gray. You also don’t need to worry about the moss dying because it is a unicellular plant that will grow and develop again if conditions are favorable. Besides temperature, light also plays an important role; moss is similar to ferns – a type of plant that is not too demanding on light. For moss to grow and develop, LED lights or Odyssea lights provide sufficient light for the plants. Note that if the light is too intense, it can cause the moss to burn (leaves turning gray). Besides temperature and light, CO2 is a very important factor for moss; with an adequate amount of CO2 (2 drops/1s for a 300L tank), the moss will grow and develop very quickly.
