This is a question that many people ask when starting to play aquariums. To know more, let’s find out with Vietnam Aquarium which type of tank is right for you.
Molded glass tank
If you are a beginner in aquariums and want an aquarium with a simple layout, you can buy molded glass tanks whose 3 front sides are rounded. These molded glass tanks require a sturdy support and are only suitable for simple aquarium setups. Cast glass tanks come in a variety of designs, often kept at desks, offices, households or as gifts. When using a molded glass tank, it will be convenient to clean the tank
Molded glass tanks usually originate in China and have rounded front sides that are easy to recognize. The molded glass tank is designed in one piece and is highly durable. However, this type of tank is quite thin, so it easily breaks when impacted.
Laminated glass tank
If you want to use a laminated glass tank of 90cm or less, you can use 8mm thick glass. If it is larger than 90cm, you should use 10mm thick glass and if the glued glass tank is over 1 meter, the glass must be 12mm thick or more to ensure safety.
Aquariums with a height of 50cm or less are often glued with hidden glue and do not have stirrups, but if you want to make tanks about 80 – 90cm high, you will need stirrups to make it sturdy and ensure safety when using the tank.
The dimensions of the aquarium are usually length x width x height (in cm).
- 50 x 30 x 30: usually use 5 glass glasses or many people choose 8 glasses
- 60 x 40 x 40: usually use 8mm glass
- 60 x 30 x 36: usually use 8mm glass
- 90 x 45 x 45: usually use 10mm glass
- 120 x 60 x 60: usually use 12mm glass (if the aquarium is more than 55 cm tall, it must have stirrups)
- 150 x 60 x 60: usually use 15mm glass
The price of glass tanks will vary depending on the glass material: Viet Nhat glass, super clear.
Viet Nhat glass tank
Hearing the name Viet Nhat glass, many people will think that it is imported from Japan but no, this is a type of glass produced domestically. Therefore, this type of tank is cheap.
- Advantages: cheap, super durable and able to withstand water well.
- Disadvantages: light transmittance rate is quite low compared to other types of glass (usually about 86%) with a slightly green color at the glass waves.
Super clear glass tank
There are two types of super clear glass: Chinese super clear glass and Belgian super clear glass.
In addition, super clear glass has other names like crystal glass and super white glass. Ultra-clear glass is a type of glass that can filter out impurities and has high light transmission ability, helping you see clearly the objects inside the tank when looking into the tank.
- Advantages: the tank has high light transmission (about 91%), the tank is transparent so when you look at the tank you will have a realistic feeling and what is inside the fish tank is very clear.
- Disadvantage: the price of super clear glass in Belgium is very high.
