The function of Duckweed in fish tanks is to provide shade for outdoor tanks, maintaining a stable temperature in the tank. The heat retention effect in the tank is most evident in winter and summer.

In addition, Duckweed also helps inhibit the proliferation of mosquito larvae by releasing disinfectant substances. Toxic substances in the water such as heavy metals, benzene, etc., are neutralized by Duckweed.

  • Avoid wind direction

When raising Duckweed, avoid the north wind blowing into the Duckweed.

Use barriers to easily adjust and prevent the wind from pushing the duckweed into large clumps, causing it to rot.

  • Yellowing Duckweed

When lacking nutrients, the duckweed will turn yellow. Nutrients should be provided using well-rotted manure. This helps the plant absorb nutrients, return to its normal color, and promotes growth and reproduction.

The best time to fertilize for Duckweed to absorb nutrients is on cool days or just after it has rained.

  • Water change

When the water in the tank has been too long, or smells foul or rotten, it is necessary to change the water immediately to prevent the plants from suffocating and root rot.

  • The most effective time to raise Duckweed

Duckweed can be raised year-round. Because Duckweed can survive in temperatures from 5 – 35oC. (It can withstand outdoor temperatures up to 45oC)
