Most people encounter this issue when setting up their aquarium for the first time. Today, we would like to guide you through some solutions.
A yellowing aquarium looks very unpleasant, making the plants appear unhealthy. Today, we would like to present some causes and solutions for the yellow water problem in your aquascape:
I. The aquarium turns yellow due to using ADA substrate from China; this will only clear up after using the substrate for a long time, and there is no other solution.
II. The aquarium turns yellow due to using ADA aquasoil Amazonia I; the yellowing is caused by nutrients directly released from the substrate, so regular filtration for a few weeks will resolve it.

III. The aquarium turns yellow due to using driftwood for the layout: this is one of the most common causes of yellow water today. Driftwood that is purchased or harvested without proper treatment (usually soaking or boiling beforehand) can cause yellow water when added to the tank. In this case, you should either remove the driftwood for treatment or, if your driftwood has a lot of moss attached or is difficult to remove, use activated carbon in the filter to treat the water. Note that activated carbon has a large surface area, making it very effective for water filtration, but it should be used for about 3 to 4 months; using it longer can lead to the accumulation of toxins in the carbon, weakening plants and fish (Currently, activated carbon is sold at water treatment companies or water filter shops, typically priced at 20-40k VND per kg for regular types).
IV. In cases where the aquarium turns yellow due to waste or the tank being in the early stages of establishing a stable microbial system: the microbes in the tank help decompose harmful waste into substances that promote the growth of fish and plants, but if the tank is not stable, the microbial system may not be strong enough to decompose all the waste, leading to a dirty and yellow tank. In this case, you should supplement the necessary microbes for the tank through microbial products available on the market (Remember to follow the correct dosage), and your tank will become clearer.
