Guide to register for the IAPLC 2019 competition

IAPLC stands for International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest. It is currently the oldest competition and gathers many famous Aquascapers from around the world. An important point to be highly evaluated in aquascaping works is that the plants must be truly healthy, the layout must be harmonious and reasonable, and at the same time, minimize harmful algae. Of course, there will be many other factors from the organizers, but just keep creating and competing, and whether you win or not is not too important.

Theme of the competition:

  • Freshwater aquascape

(Note: Semi-aquatic and saltwater tanks are not allowed to participate)

If your layout has plants growing above or driftwood, rocks placed above, only the underwater part will be scored.

Registration start date:

April 1, 2019, Japan time.

Registration end date:

Until the end of May 31, 2019, Japan time.

Competition prizes:

Grand Prize: 01 Prize. Prize value: JPY1,000,000(~ 200 million VND), along with Certificate and Gold Medal. Gold Prize: 01 Prize. Prize value: JPY300,000(~ 60 million VND), along with Certificate and Silver Medal. Silver Prize: 02 Prizes. Prize value: JPY100,000(~ 20 million VND), along with Certificate and Bronze Medal. Bronze Prize: 03 Prizes. Prize value: JPY50,000(~ 10 million VND), along with Certificate and Honor Medal. Honor Prize: 20 Prizes. Prize value: JPY10,000(~ 2 million VND), along with Certificate and Medal. Winning Work: 100 Prizes, along with Certificate. *In addition, high-ranking works will be printed in the IAPLC Booklet. Published in the fall of 2019 and other public information pages.

*The number of works in the magazine has not been decided.

Competition regulations:

PLEASE NOTE: THE COMPETITION HAS NO ENTRY FEE.

  1. Participants must submit their contest images to the organizers using images taken from cameras and recording devices (Not from edited images, etc.).
  2. The image files sent to the organizers must be in JPEG format <5M (RAW data is not accepted).
  3. No cropping, flipping, or editing of the images is allowed. (This is to allow the organizers to clearly see the condition of the plants and the natural environment in the tank).
  4. Use the participation template on the official IAPLC website (Online Application) to submit images. The registration and image submission process is very simple.
  5. If the images are resized for submission, the original must be kept for later submission. The original data will be requested later if your tank ranks high.
  6. Printed images are not accepted.
  7. Images can be sent to the organizers on storage devices such as USB, CD-R, etc. Note: The organizers will not return storage devices.

Some guidelines and rules:

  1. The competition is open to all aquascaping enthusiasts, except for those who are organizers or judges of international aquascaping competitions.
  2. Only works that are successfully registered will be accepted. There is no limit on the size of the participating tanks.
  3. Each participant may only submit 01 work. Submitting more than the allowed number will not be accepted.

  • Submitting images that are copies or have previously participated in other competitions will not be accepted and will be disqualified. Competitions authorized by ADA must have ADA’s permission.
  • Using exactly the same works submitted to the competition will incur point deductions, even if you change the plants or layout. (This ensures the creativity of the competition).
  • Images of the contest tank must be limited to within 1 year. Beyond this time, even if your tank ranks high, it will not be accepted.
  • Using non-aquatic plants or materials that are difficult to maintain in water will incur point deductions.
  • Images that disrupt the competition will be disqualified.
  • Images submitted to the organizers must be taken from the front angle of the tank. Other angles will incur point deductions.
  • All images submitted for the competition will belong to ADA’s copyright, and using images without ADA’s permission for advertising and printing purposes is prohibited.
  • Images of aquascaping tanks participating in the competition may only be disclosed after the award ceremony. Violating regulations will result in disqualification from the competition.
  • All aquascaping tanks that violate the regulations will be disqualified before or after the award announcement.

Note:

  • Images submitted for the competition can be taken by anyone.
  • Register with the correct name of the aquascape creator. Falsifying names or incorrect names will result in disqualification.
  • Failure to provide complete information during registration and participation will result in disqualification.
  • Submitted images will not be returned to participants.
  • Issues related to the similarity of images from competitions outside ADA’s authorization will be decided by the organizers’ decision as final.
  • The organizers will not accept any questions related to scoring, and the scoring criteria will not be answered.
