Currently, there are many types of thermometers available on the market almost everywhere. From expensive ones to cheap ones. But have you thought about which type of thermometer is suitable for your aquarium? Today, from a personal perspective, the website would like to guide you on how to classify the types of thermometers and which one to choose for your aquascape.
Thermometers! A tool to measure the temperature in the aquascape is essential for hobbyists to adjust the tank environment. Currently, there are three basic types of thermometers available on the market: Alcohol thermometers, mercury thermometers, and digital thermometers.
- Alcohol thermometer:

is a type of thermometer that is inexpensive and quite commonly used! The thermal absorption of the alcohol thermometer is 20 times greater than that of mercury, so the expansion occurs more clearly, making it often used to measure air and water temperature. You can distinguish this type by looking at the liquid inside, which is usually red, green, or blue.
2. Mercury thermometer:

This type of thermometer is commonly used in medicine and science due to its high environmental interaction because of its sensitivity. However, the expansion occurs less, so mercury thermometers are often used for experiments or measurements in medicine. You can distinguish this type from the alcohol thermometer by its metallic sheen.
3. Digital thermometer:

This type of thermometer uses infrared rays to measure temperature! The temperature readings are usually quite accurate compared to other types, and the information is clear and easy to use. It is less prone to damage from impacts.
So which type of thermometer should you use for your aquascape:
After reading all the information above, you must have your own choice. Here is our personal opinion to share with you: The mercury thermometer, due to the toxic nature of this metal, can affect your aquascape environment if an accident occurs, so we only recommend this type! The digital thermometer, while meeting all requirements, is not as aesthetically pleasing as the alcohol thermometer, which we currently consider to be the best option. It is beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, and quite safe in case of an accident.
Above are our personal shares! We hope you will find the right type of thermometer for you.
