A large aquarium layout featuring with water, 430L, by Genki Todoroki. The hardscape focus sits on RiverStone, Driftwood.
Hardscape (RiverStone, Driftwood) forms the skeleton — negative space between wood and stone guides the eye from foreground to depth. On the plant side, the layout leans toward foreground carpeting with species such as Eleocharis parvula, Eleocharis acicularis, Eleocharis montevidensis — trim in layers so hardscape still breathes. blue acrylic board substrate helps stabilize root-zone nutrition in the early weeks.
Two ADA SOLARRGBs are used. Lights on 12 hours a day lighting sits at a moderate-to-high technical level for this large aquarium. Uses two Eheim 2217 filtration needs enough turnovers without blasting the hardscape; browse matching filters.
Livestock (Geophagus altifrons, Hemigrammus erythrozonus) fits this large aquarium — prefer species that will not dig up the substrate and wreck hardscape lines.
Setup notes: All stones, gravel, and driftwood were collected from rivers in Japan. We use an original blend of fertilizer.
