Dutch garden

A large aquarium layout featuring Dutch garden, 350 L (92.5 gal.), Dutch style, by Danny van den aarsen. The hardscape focus sits on driftwood.

Hardscape (driftwood) forms the skeleton — negative space between wood and stone guides the eye from foreground to depth. About 15 plant species are listed — fine for a multi-layer look, but keep a care log so slower species are not shaded out. Dennerle aqua soil substrate helps stabilize root-zone nutrition in the early weeks.

Juwel standard lights lighting sits at a moderate-to-high technical level for this large aquarium. CO₂ (“The CO₂ system switches on one hour before the lights come on, set to 45 ppm, and switches off one hour after the lights go out.”) — see our CO₂ systems if you want to clone a similar setup. Bioflow Filter XL 8.0 filtration needs enough turnovers without blasting the hardscape; browse matching filters.
