Betta Serenity

A nano tank layout featuring Betta Serenity, 20.8L, by Gabrielle Johnson. The composition is built around substrate is aqua soil and sand with round rocks.

The hardscape with substrate is aqua soil and sand sets the rhythm; planting should support those lines without burying them. On the plant side, the layout leans toward background stem plants with species such as Anubis petite, rotala indica, cryptocoryne wendtii — trim in layers so hardscape still breathes. None substrate helps stabilize root-zone nutrition in the early weeks.

LED lighting, medium lighting sits at a approachable technical level for this nano tank. sponge filter filtration needs enough turnovers without blasting the hardscape; browse matching filters. Low-tech tip: favor slow growers and avoid dense planting if filtration is modest.

With 1 koi betta, 1 nerite snail, 1 mystery snail, watch bioload: a nano tank drifts quickly if stocking is heavy.

Setup notes: Originally, I wanted this to be a shrimp tank, but after finding this betta I knew he would be the centerpiece I needed. Philbert has such a personality and brings this tank to life in the way I imagined. And the wood in the middle reminded me of a volcano or mountain, so I wanted to create what looked like vegetation around the mountain with sparse vegetation on it, like its a high elevation. I hope you enjoy this tank as much as I do!
