Dragon Cliff

A large aquarium layout featuring Dragon Cliff, 182L, by Claudio Sartor. Standout plants include Rotala indica.

On the plant side, the layout leans toward background stem plants with species such as Rotala indica — trim in layers so hardscape still breathes.

1 ADA Solar RGB, 1 Chihiro WRGB PRO 90 lighting sits at a moderate-to-high technical level for this large aquarium. ADA Super Jet Filter 105-JES filtration needs enough turnovers without blasting the hardscape; browse matching filters.

Lighting, filtration, substrate, and plant details sit in the specs table below, or browse more layouts in 162–220L.

Daily I remove 3-5 litres of water to siphon micro sediment or small fragments of moss. The architecture of this layout is a Diorama style in which I tried to depict a sort of cliff using Dragon rocks (hence the title of the aquarium).
This is my most complex creation ever, in which I have fielded all my experience and knowledge, trying to give the best of myself, with the hope that those who will look at the final result will appreciate my efforts. It is a layout that I have thought and designed for over a year of time, also inspired by the great masters, while also expressing my sensitivity and aesthetic sense of nature.
I studied the choice of animals so that it did not disturb the overall view of the aquarium, but was, on the contrary, complementary and in harmony with the big picture. It is an honour and a privilege to be able to participate, after so much effort, in this important world contest.
Thank you very much to everyone.Category Sponsor
