How to choose the right product

Epiphytes and carpeting plants need different light, planting and CO2 expectations.

Anubias & Java fern

Attach to wood or stone — never bury rhizomes. Tolerate lower light and minimal CO2. Anubias nana for foreground; Java fern Windelov adds texture.

Monte Carlo TC

Clean tissue culture — plant small clumps into soil or thin cap. Needs stronger light; CO2 speeds carpeting but low-tech growth is slow yet viable.

Light & ferts

Entry planted LEDs plus liquid fertilizer 2–3× weekly suits epiphytes. Carpets want higher PAR or accept vertical growth instead of dense mats.

Shrimp safety

TC and clean farm plants are shrimp-safe. Rinse TC gel thoroughly. Quarantine pond-sourced plants before Caridina tanks.

FAQ

Can Anubias grow in substrate?
Do not bury the rhizome — it rots. Tie or glue to hardscape; let roots drift into sand or soil only.
Will Monte Carlo carpet without CO2?
Yes, slowly — it may climb instead of spreading flat. Balance light and ferts; excess light without CO2 invites algae.
Tissue culture vs potted plants?
TC is cleaner for shrimp and new setups. Pots fill faster — rinse rock wool and split stems before planting.
Why is new growth yellow?
Often acclimation for 1–2 weeks. Trim damaged leaves, stabilize CO2/light and avoid constant rescapes.
