How to choose the right product

Stone choice ties to layout style, livestock hardness needs and long-term water stability.

Seiryu Stone

Blue-gray, sharp strata — classic Iwagumi rock. May raise KH/pH slightly; fine for hard-water stock. Scrub and test after aquascaping.

Dragon Stone

Porous, earthy tones — nature and Dutch layouts. Usually gentler on parameters than Seiryu. Pick pieces with depth and branching.

Ohko (Fukuryu)

Rounded river-rock feel — soft scapes and biotope vibes. Often inert. Pairs well with sand and driftwood.

Prep & safety

Soak and scrub repeatedly. Skip harsh acids. Test KH/pH after 24–48h soak. Avoid painted or metallic mystery rock.

FAQ

Does Seiryu raise hardness?
It can bump KH/pH depending on the batch. Skip it for soft-water Caridina shrimp — choose Dragon, Ohko or inert stone instead.
How much stone for a 60P tank?
Roughly 8–15 kg depending on layout — one main Iwagumi stone plus accents, or many smaller nature pieces. Buy extra to sort composition.
Do I need glue for stones?
Cyanoacrylate gel stabilizes stacks. Not required if wedged firmly into substrate.
Should new stone be soaked first?
Yes — soak and rinse until water clears to remove dust, tannins and loose minerals before adding livestock.
